After graduating as a chemical engineer, he worked for four years with National Instruments in Austin, TX — specializing in research and industrial automation. He then spent the next eight years as cofounder and CEO of Sixclear, focusing on creating software and products to automate the research labs and production environments of customers like NASA, Cisco Systems, Sandia National Labs, and GE Healthcare.
